EDeQUAL launched the inaugural Math Challenge in September 2014, a nation-wide inter-school competition that challenged students to apply Math concepts and demonstrate thinking and problem solving skills. Students from class 3 to 11 participated in Math Challenge.
Students were divided divided into three groups for the competition:
– Group 1: Primary – classes 3, 4, 5, 6
– Group 2: Middle – classes 7, 8, 9
– Group 3: High – classes 10, 11
Forty schools across Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad participated over three rounds in the competition. Round 1 was held within each participating school on its computers using EDeQUAL’s technology. Widest participation by students was encouraged, and over 7000 students took the Round 1 quiz. From this group each school selected its highest scoring students to represent them in the second round. This was held in each of the three participating locations, and the winning teams proceeded to the final round of the competition.
The finals were held on 26 November 2014 at three separate venues in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad that were connected to each other using EDeQUAL’s technology. The finalist schools were:
